Internet & Computer Policy
User must be a registered patron, in good standing, of Springboro Public Library. Users must read and sign the Springboro Public Library’s Internet & Computer Policy. Users agree to comply with the policy.
Users must demonstrate working knowledge. The staff does not have time to teach.
Users under eighteen (18) years of age must have written parental permission. Users under twelve (12) years must have parent with them to use the Internet.
Users must register at the desk for each 30 minute block of time, with 1 hour maximum. If user begins second half hour and ends with time remaining they are not permitted to sign up later to use the computers for the remaining time. This applies to all computers.
Two people permitted to one computer at one time. Personal handles (chat lines) are not allowed.
Other software, such as Encyclopedias and word processors may be used when the computer is available. All users must sign up.
No floppy disks from outside sources. Material may be downloaded to a floppy disk purchased from the library and kept at the library. Once a disk is taken out of the library, it may not be brought back. The will protect our computers from viruses.
Springboro Public Library cannot be held responsible for the content of information accessed through the Internet. As with other library materials, restriction of a child’s access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent/legal guardian.
Misuse of the computer or Internet access will result in the loss of your computer privileges. Library Staff will determine what constitutes misuse or abuse and has the right to revoke or suspend Internet and computer privileges.
Users are responsible for his/her actions and activity while on the Internet. Unacceptable uses will result in the suspension or revoking of these privileges. Some examples of unacceptable use are: Using the network for illegal activity, including violation of copyright and other contracts, using the network for financial or commercial gain, damaging or disrupting equipment or system performance, vandalizing the data of another user, gaining unauthorized access to resources or entities, invading the privacy of individuals, using an account owned by another user, posting anonymous messages. For protection of minors, filtering software is used and access to explicit sexual materials as defined in 18 PA Code 5903 is not allowed.
Springboro Public Library assumes no responsibility for any damage direct, or indirect, rising from use of its World Wide Web server or from its connections to the Internet.
