Where do I get OverDrive eBooks?
You can find them on CCFLS’s OverDrive website at http://ccfls.lib.overdrive.com.
Who can check out OverDrive eBooks from CCFLS?
Anyone with a valid CCFLS library card whose account is in good standing.
How many eBooks can I check out at a time?
You can check out one eBook for up to 14 days. If you wish, you can set a shorter checkout period during the checkout process.
Can I place a hold on an eBook?
Yes, you can place an eBook on hold. If the eBook you want is already checked out to someone, you’ll see “Place a Hold” next to the title. You’ll be asked to enter your email address, and when the book is returned you’ll receive an email. You have three days to then check out the eBook before your hold expires and the eBook becomes available for others to check out. You can have two eBooks on hold at the same time, but you will still only be able to check out one book at a time.
I’m finished with my eBook and want to check out another one. How can I return the book I have?
If you used Adobe Digital Editions to check out your eBook, you can return the book through your computer. Open Adobe Digital Edtions and go to the Library view. Click on the little triangle in the top left corner of the bookcover for the title you want to return. Select “Return Book”. When you log in to OverDrive, the book will no longer be on your Bookshelf and you can check out another book.
If you have a Kindle book, you may be able to return books directly through your device or go to Amazon.com, “Manage My Kindle” and return the book from the “Your Kindle Library” list. Click on “Actions” and select the return library book option. The book will remain in your list until you delete it, but it will have been returned to OverDrive.
